Before I joined the team, I actually spent about 8 months at another barbershop where I barely touched a pair of clippers. They never gave me any hands-on experience. I was just cleaning all day, and no one really invested in teaching me. Over time, I lost motivation and honestly started to question if barbering was even for me.
One day, I walked past one of the MOE & Co. locations and saw a “We’re Hiring” sign in the window. I walked in and had a chat with Ali, owner of the MOE & Co. Store, on the spot. He listened to my story, saw that I was serious, and gave me a chance then and there. We talked about where this could go if I took it seriously, and he explained the MOE & Co. culture to me, and that conversation really flipped a switch for me.
Not even three months in, I was already on the tools. That was around Christmas time, and even though the shop was slammed, Ali backed me all the way.
Fast forward to now, almost a year later, and I’m getting ready to manage our new Southland location. It’s been a massive journey in such a short time.
I’m honestly so grateful to Ali and MOE & Co. for giving me an opportunity to grow. That one conversation changed everything. He gave me the time, the trust, and the opportunity I needed and has set me up for the future.
